Tad Beck and Jennifer Locke
I was underwater with my camera awaiting Jennifer to heave the models off the side of a boat. I took pictures while they attempted to regain their equilibrium under water. The Jackstands were shot in my studio and carefully reenacted the poses previously created. The stands while conceptually appropriate for their relationship to water, were exceptionally uncomfortable to pose on.

Linda Montano, Stills from Mitchell’s Death, 1977, on view now as part of Room to Live.
In this video, performance artist Linda Montano mourns the sudden tragic death of her ex-husband Mitchell. The artist recounts her experience of his death in a monotone chant reminiscent of Buddhist meditative practices while slowly piercing her face with acupuncture needles an a ritualized act of mourning.
I don’t know what this ‘artist’[Clayton Pettet] is thinking about, but losing your virginity in the name of ‘art’, it’s not right. Sexual intimacy is something sacred, special and personal, it’s not to be shared or be exploited for any kind of purpose. I am not against the porn industry but please don’t define this as Performance Art.
Respect your body and your self [and your partner].
All this crap about virginity and how society glorifies this word and how you are doing this to diminish this stereotype, you are doing quite the opposite.
Please, DON’T DO IT.
ps. Did St Martin’s agreed to this student’s decision? (‘cos as far as I know it’s a school project)
I’ve been seeing articles everywhere on the internet but I haven’t seen anyone disagreeing or considering this as something bad.
What do you think?
